Christmas just isn’t Christmas without some garlands of glittering tinsel and a smattering of shiny baubles. But when you’re dressing the set for a national television show, a lighthearted homage won’t do, you have to go all out – which is exactly what I did with the help of Spotlight for the set of Studio TEN’s special Christmas Show.
Instead of the traditional green, red, Santas, snowmen, reindeer, snow and everything else that says ‘North Pole’ we drew inspiration of what makes a Christmas Down Under truly unique – spending time in the outdoors and tropical colour!
And can I say, it turned out spectacular! I just love the bright pops of colour on the tree and the ombre effect, the starfish and sea shell decorations (hired and purchased from Columbus Imports).
For the hosts table, I added a crafty element by painting wooden letters, and stringing them from the garland.
Dressing the tables was a challenge – I wanted something special as Studio TEN had partnered with The Smith Family, and were hosting a special Christmas lunch. I wanted a Christmassy feel and a dramatic centre piece, all while sticking to the tropical Christmas theme. But don’t you just HATE it when you struggle to fit your food around the table because of zealous over-decorating? So we came up with a solution – table runners and driftwood wreaths for the centrepieces. Baubles strung onto a piece of ribbon, finished off with hibiscus flowers and a glittering mini-tree finished it off.
A HUGE thanks to the team at Studio TEN for letting me dress their set for Christmas! Tune in TODAY Christmas Day) from 8.30 am – towards the end you’ll be able to spot me as I have a quick chat with the hosts on how you can have a Crafty Christmas.
Christmas decorations courtesy of Spotlight who have a simply massive range of decorations, and plenty of ideas on how you can make your own decorations!
And I couldn’t have done it without the wonderful team from Stellar PR – Vanessa and Sonia are the best Christmas helpers a girl could ask for!
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Thanks for joining me on my crafty adventures this year. To say thanks, here’s a pic of me posing up a storm with my favourite tree 🙂
