When these lovely raindrops catch the light, they are simply stunning! Best of all, they can be created with just a couple of materials you already have about the house – wax paper and crayons.
What you need:
An iron
Crayons
A sharpener or pen knife
Wax Paper
Scissors
Paper towel for clean up
Silver string
Steps:
First, shave bits of your crayon onto wax paper. You want to make sure there’s plenty of shavings, I used 4 colours and about a quarter of each crayon.
Turn your iron on to the lowest heat. Gently move the iron over the crayon until it is all melted. Have some paper towel on hand as you’ll want to wipe your iron as soon as you’re finished! While it’s still hot, remove all the crayon, taking care to also get into the holes. Iron a towel a few times to completely get rid of the crayon.
This craft does have the potential to ruin your iron, so I used an old iron that I use specifically for crafts! If you are worried about ruining your iron, you can use a sheet of baking paper to iron on top of, but this will take off some of the crayon.
When the wax paper is completely cool, cut raindrop shapes in various sizes. Punch a hole in the top and tie on 30 – 40cm lengths of silver string. You can also add beads which will help the tear drops hang nicely.
Hang in a sunny spot and let your kitty play!
