It’s only started to dawn on me that displaying ‘holiday’ crafts a few days of the year is a terrible dishonour to all that precious time, energy and creative prowess it took you to make it.
Holidays such as Christmas and Easter are always a fun time of year to get your craft on, but I like the idea of investing my energies into crafts that give a nod to the fat jolly man or the chocolate bestowing bunny, and that I can still enjoy the rest of the year.
Also, I’m pretty lazy so I usually don’t bother taking decorations for months afterwards – so I find this style of crafting is very convenient too.
Here are a few of my favourites that you won’t have to put away until the Christmas tree goes up.
Marbled eggs
Never again throw away those half empty bottles of nail polish you know you’ll never wear again. Introducing, the wondrous art of marbling. Happily, this technique works on ceramics such as mugs and plates and even pot plants, so depending on your stash of polishes, there’s hours of fun to be had.

DIY Bunny Ears
You would not believe the amount of occasions where these bunny ears have become an invaluable accessory (which may or may not include vacuuming).
And it would be selfish to only make a pair for yourself… The whole family can join in the fun.
Once you’ve mastered these, play around with different animal ears and fabric – doilies work well too! You’ll be sorted for every occasion.
DIY Wax Drip Eggs
I remember doing these at school – and yes, they’re just as much fun 25 years later.
Easter-Inspired Table Setting
So that nod to Easter I was talking about? Here’s how to do it on your table setting, without kitschy.

I hope you gorge on lots of chocolate and have a wonderful Easter 🙂
